VOLUNTEERS AND FOSTER HOMES NEEDED:
Animal advocates of the US (AAOFUS) is a 100% volunteer organization. We are always looking for new and dedicated members to add to our team. Although AAOFUS is always looking for people to help in Mexico at kennels and events they are aware that not everyone has the ability to travel across the border. Some of the tasks that need assistance are but not limited to…
Food transporter: This job is to collect food from donating stores and drop it off at the co-founders home (so it can be distributed to foster family’s and Mexico) or taken directly to Mexico. This job is perfect for someone that is 18 or older, has a valid drivers license, can lift several large bags of dog or cat food (approximately 60lb) and has reliable transportation.
Event coordinator: This volunteer would set up fundraisers and awareness campaigns. This job is perfect for someone that is a go getter, organized, someone that has great people skills and someone that is able to donate at least one weekend a month to a event.
Kennel workers: Although all of the volunteer work with AAOFUS is greatly appreciated this job takes a very special person. This job involves traveling to Mexico, cleaning kennels, supplying food and water, showing the animals at the perrera how it feels to be cared for, and assisting in caring for sick or injured animals. This job is perfect for someone with a big heart that can emotionally handle seeing suffering animals and someone with a proper passport.
Volunteer coordinator/supervisor: AAOFUS works with court ordered volunteers with miner offences and volunteers that dedicated for personal satisfaction. This job is for someone that can manage people, is organized, works well with others, is comfortable e-mailing, is willing to advertise volunteer programs and can work as a team.
Vet/Vet assistant: This job is perfect for someone that is a vet, is going to veterinarian school, or someone that is interested in assisting a vet. This job would require a passport, willingness to travel to Mexico, someone that is qualified to perform spay and neuters or can assist in spay and neuters, someone that is comfortable seeing sick and injured animals and someone that is comfortable giving vaccinations and medications to the animal via injection. This position requires no vet experience, we will train basic medical care.

STUDENT REPORTER - WRITING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
After a recent trip with AAOFUS volunteers to the Tijuana Perrera, Brandi, the voice of our future, has started an email campaign to tell the story of street dogs and cats and how each person can help in their own way to make a difference in the lives of street dogs and cats in Mexico. We thank Brandi and young people like her who support humane and compassionate care for homeless and unwanted dogs and cats in Mexico.
"Long story short, the experience was truly life-changing. . .
By now you are probably wondering what my reason is for writing you. I promise you it is not to hit you with this horribly depressing information, but instead to ask for your help at giving these animals a chance at having a great life. During my trip we were able to bring back several animals with us across the border. Unfortunately, there was not enough room for them all, and we were forced to leave some behind.
For the animals we are able to bring back, we are constantly looking for foster homes to place these animals during the adoption process.
Other ways you can help this cause is by donating your time or money to these organizations. I have never seen a more dedicated group of people who spend their lives helping these innocent creatures. But unfortunately, this small group of people can only do so much with so few supplies due to lack of funding. Animal Advocates of the U.S. (AAOFUS) in constant need of pet food, medical supplies, blankets, crates, even vehicles to transport these animals across the border."

These beautiful souls survived living on the streets without anyone to care for them. They survived starvation. They survived abuse. Now, they have hope for a happy life. These wonderful dogs and cats need a forever home. Please read their stories and let their love touch your heart.
HOPPY
Hoppy was taken from the Mexicali shelter just hours before he was scheduled to be euthanized. He is a sweet dog, loves to go on walks. He currently lives with cats and dogs but as far as we know, has not been exposed to children.
RESCUED PUPPIES
3 Labrador-mix puppies rescued from Mexicali, Mexico are waiting for good, forever homes.

JULIE AND MAYA
I have always been crazy for animals and have taken in many over the years. My husband and I got Oka, a crippled spaniel mix with 4 teeth whom we absolutely adore and ended up keeping her! Next came Maya, a long haired chihuahua who added a lot of "life" in our dog family. After the fires in San Diego in '07 I decided to help by fostering.
JULIE, DENNIS AND FOSTER FRIENDS
We have been fostering furiously ever since, placing over 80 dogs and cats. It has been the most rewarding experience of my life, seeing the animals becoming comfortable in their new environment (most come from horrible conditions) and hearing from the adopters who love their new "family members."

WENDY ADOPTED!
Wendy was rescued from the perrera in Tijuana. She was dumped there with her new born puppies, and was waiting to be put down after her puppies were put down. Marlene, a AAOFUS volunteer, brought her home. She was spayed and adopted by a wonderful family who have recently lost their Dalmatian. Thank you Marlene for giving this sweet dog an opportunity for a happy life!
